PFA seizes fake drinks, dumps 1,300kg dead chicken in Lahore crackdown
Two FIRs registered as food safety teams confiscate 1,920 litres of counterfeit beverages and intercept contaminated poultry supply during anti-adulteration drive

The Punjab Food Authority (PFA) has discarded 1,300 kilograms of dead chicken meat and registered two FIRs on charges of forgery during ongoing operations against food adulteration networks in the provincial capital.
Food safety teams intercepted a supplier vehicle (No. SAC-4666) at Ghazi Phatak Bypass, where dead chickens were found concealed for supply to the market. The contaminated meat was immediately disposed of to prevent distribution to consumers.
In a separate raid, authorities uncovered a unit in Wahga Town involved in manufacturing counterfeit beverages of well-known brands under unhygienic conditions. Inspectors reported that workers were producing drinks using unfiltered water, while heavy insect infestation was observed at the premises.
During the operation, enforcement teams confiscated 1,920 litres of fake cold drinks, along with filling machines, 780 bottles, counterfeit labels, caps, raw materials and a supplier vehicle used in distribution.
According to PFA Director General Muhammad Asim Javaid, the operators failed to provide mandatory sales records and required documentation during the inspection, indicating regulatory violations.
He stated that the crackdown was conducted to ensure the provision of safe food to the public, warning that strict action will continue against individuals involved in producing and selling substandard or counterfeit food products that pose a threat to public health.
