Finance Minister Aurangzeb: PM-led committee conducts daily reviews to manage fuel and supply challenges

The government is intensifying oversight of critical supply chains through a high-level Prime Minister-led committee, holding daily sessions for the fifth consecutive week to manage fuel, food, and logistics amid regional uncertainties, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb told the National Assembly on Monday.

The committee, formed over the weekend, includes the ministers for petroleum, commerce, maritime affairs, national food security, and the Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, with the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister personally supervising all proceedings.

Aurangzeb said the petroleum minister has played a pivotal role, coordinating efforts to ensure uninterrupted fuel supply and smooth distribution nationwide. Daily reviews cover stock availability, pricing patterns, logistical hurdles, and evolving global market conditions, he added.

In parallel, the government has stepped up diplomatic engagement with foreign states to secure supply lines and mitigate risks arising from the regional scenario, underscoring a proactive approach to crisis management.

“These daily high-level meetings, now entering their fifth week, allow us to continuously assess and respond to emerging challenges,” the finance minister said, highlighting the government’s commitment to safeguarding economic stability and ensuring operational resilience in key sectors.

The structured oversight aims to maintain market stability, prevent shortages, and coordinate logistics efficiently, reflecting a comprehensive government response to ongoing regional and global uncertainties.
