Sindh High Court refers K-Electric petitions to NEPRA tribunal, keeps relief in place

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court has disposed of K-Electric’s constitutional petitions and directed the NEPRA Appellate Tribunal to decide the company’s pending appeals within three months, according to a disclosure filed with the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).

The petitions were related to NEPRA’s review decisions issued on October 20, 2025, which K-Electric had challenged before the court.

In its order dated April 2, 2026, the court referred the matter to the NEPRA Appellate Tribunal, which has recently become operational, for adjudication under the relevant provisions of the NEPRA Act, 1997.

The court also ruled that the interim relief granted earlier—restraining coercive action against the company—will remain in effect until the tribunal issues a final decision on the appeals.

K-Electric had initially filed multiple petitions in November 2025, seeking relief against the regulator’s decisions. The latest development shifts the matter to the appellate forum for final determination within a defined timeframe.
