Rs1.2 billion disbursed digitally to 32,000 beneficiaries under PM fuel package
Easypaisa executes first batch of payments to transport sector as government expands digital relief delivery

The government has disbursed Rs1.2 billion to more than 32,000 beneficiaries in the first phase of the PM Fuel Package 2026, targeting operators of buses, trucks, long-haul vehicles and delivery vans.
According to a news report, the payments were made through Easypaisa Digital Bank, allowing funds to be transferred directly to recipients through mobile wallets. The platform facilitated transfers to truck operators in the initial rollout, with plans to expand coverage to tank lorries, buses and motorcycles.
The initiative is aimed at providing financial support amid rising fuel costs while shifting towards digital disbursement mechanisms. Authorities said the use of mobile wallets enables real-time transfers, reduces reliance on cash-based systems and improves transparency.
“We are honored to partner with the Government of Pakistan in delivering timely financial relief to citizens,” said Jahanzeb Khan, President and Chief Executive Officer of easypaisa digital bank, in a statement.
Federal Minister for IT and Telecom Shaza Fatima said digital payments are central to improving efficiency and expanding financial access.
“Under the digital nation vision of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, digital finance can directly improve lives while advancing our vision of a cashless and digitally empowered Pakistan,” she said.
Officials said digital platforms are being used to ensure that government assistance reaches beneficiaries quickly and securely. Easypaisa, which has over 59 million registered users and a nationwide agent network, is supporting large-scale government-to-person payments under the programme.
