Pakistan exports to North America rise to $4.41 billion, imports surge 34%

Pakistan’s exports to North America increased to $4.411 billion during the first eight months of FY26, marking a 3.21% rise from $4.274 billion in the same period last year, driven by higher shipments to the United States.

Exports to the US, which accounts for nearly 95% of Pakistan’s North American trade, grew by 3.62% to $4.156 billion from $4.011 billion a year earlier. In contrast, exports to Canada declined by 2.64% to $226.28 million from $232.42 million.

On an annual basis, exports to North America had already shown stronger growth, rising 9.97% to $6.415 billion in FY25 from $5.833 billion, supported mainly by textile and clothing shipments to the US. Exports to the US increased by 10.72% to $6.028 billion in FY25, while exports to Canada fell 3.26% to $254.35 million.

Imports from North America recorded a sharper increase, rising 34.4% to $2.239 billion in 8MFY26 compared to $1.663 billion a year earlier. Most imports originated from the US, where inflows rose 27.78% to $1.918 billion from $1.501 billion.

Officials said the increase in imports is partly linked to a new arrangement under which Pakistan plans to import an additional $2.5 billion worth of goods from the US to manage its trade balance during the current fiscal year.

In Latin America, exports remained largely unchanged at $48.67 million in 8MFY26 compared to $48.54 million last year. Exports to Central America declined by 0.58% to $113.10 million, with shipments to Mexico falling 4.35% to $83.37 million.

Exports to South America showed stronger performance, rising 19.49% to $271.52 million from $227.23 million, according to data from the State Bank of Pakistan.
