The container vessel MV Selen, operated by the National Logistics Corporation (NLC) under AP Line, on Sunday berthed at Karachi Port after sailing from Jebel Ali, United Arab Emirates, becoming the first Pakistan-bound container ship to arrive following recent disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to a spokesman for the Karachi Port Trust (KPT), the vessel’s arrival marks the resumption of containerized trade activity and indicates improving stability in maritime supply chains that had faced uncertainty due to regional tensions.
Officials said the successful berthing reflects coordinated efforts among port authorities, shipping lines, and logistics stakeholders to ensure continuity of cargo operations and minimize disruptions to trade flows.
The development is being seen as a positive signal for the country’s import and export sector, reinforcing confidence in Pakistan’s maritime logistics system after the temporary disruption in one of the region’s key shipping routes.
