IMF MD commends Pakistan’s reform progress, economic stability

The Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Ms. Kristalina Georgieva, has appreciated Pakistan’s continued progress on economic reforms during her interaction with Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb, on the sidelines of the IMF–World Bank Spring Meetings 2026.

In a statement shared on social media, the IMF Managing Director noted that Pakistan’s strong implementation of its reform programme has contributed to maintaining macroeconomic stability and building investor confidence.

Ms. Georgieva observed that sound economic policies, along with the continuation of deeper structural reforms, would be critical for sustaining economic growth and improving the welfare of the people of Pakistan.

"Strong program implementation has helped Pakistan maintain macroeconomic stability and build confidence. Sound policies and deeper structural reforms remain key to sustaining growth and raising welfare for all Pakistanis," Ms. Georgieva wrote on X.

The remarks reflect growing international recognition of Pakistan’s reform efforts and its commitment to maintaining economic stability through prudent policymaking.
