Customs revises polyester filament yarn import values amid global price surge
New ruling adds $0.10 per kg for dyed yarn, update follows war-driven supply disruptions

The Directorate General of Customs Valuation Karachi has revised customs values for polyester filament yarn imports in response to sharp fluctuations in international prices linked to global supply chain disruptions.
In a new valuation ruling, authorities stated that an additional $0.10 per kg will be applied to dyed yarn over the specified C&F customs value.
The revision follows an earlier valuation set in July 2025, with officials initiating a fresh assessment after observing significant increases in petrochemical raw material prices amid ongoing global tensions.
Customs conducted consultations with stakeholders, inviting importers and local manufacturers to present their views and submit supporting data.
Importers argued that existing values should be maintained, citing volatility in global prices and noting that rates have already remained elevated over the past six months.
Local manufacturers, however, maintained that international prices have continued to rise and supported an upward revision to align valuations with market trends.
Officials said the updated values aim to reflect prevailing international price movements and ensure accurate assessment of import consignments.
