China’s Wasion Holdings Limited has announced that its subsidiary, Wasion Group Limited, has secured contracts for smart metering products and related services in Pakistan, with a total value exceeding RMB115 million (approximately USD 16.2 million).
The company disclosed that the contracts were awarded in April 2026 as part of overseas tenders, marking its continued expansion in the South Asian market.
Wasion said the projects involve supply of smart metering equipment and associated services, reflecting its participation in Pakistan’s power sector infrastructure and digitisation efforts.
The company stated that its performance in international tenders is supported by its experience in overseas markets, established product portfolio and local service network.
Wasion added that it plans to continue strengthening its presence in international markets, including Pakistan, while focusing on technology-driven solutions and power sector development projects.
On April 20, 2026, Pakistan Power Division signed a Transaction Advisory Services Agreement (TASA) with the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a World Bank financial arm, to support the rollout of 10 million smart meters across power distribution companies (DISCOs).
Under the agreement, IFC will serve as transaction advisor and carry out a detailed techno-commercial assessment to develop a service-provider or public-private partnership model for large-scale deployment of smart meters covering 10 million single-phase connections.
