Chinese J-10 fighter jets maker reports record sales, profit after Pakistan-India clash: report

China’s AVIC Chengdu Aircraft Co., maker of the fighter jets that rose to fame in the India-Pakistan conflict last year, posted record profit in 2025 and saw first-quarter sales nearly double, Bloomberg reported.

Revenue rose 15.8% to 75.4 billion yuan ($11 billion) in 2025, with profit up 6.5% to 3.4 billion yuan, the jetmaker said in a statement Tuesday night. Both are the highest-ever for the Chengdu-based company, according to data compiled by Bloomberg

First-quarter sales rose almost 80% on year, it added.

AVIC Chengdu gained international attention after its J-10 fighter jets were deployed during last year’s India-Pakistan conflict. Pakistan said it had downed multiple Indian aircraft, including Rafale jets, while India confirmed aircraft losses without specifying numbers and said it had also destroyed Pakistani planes.

The company stated that its improved performance was supported by a restructuring of assets that consolidated its jet manufacturing operations.

AVIC Chengdu’s profile has expanded in international markets following the conflict, with interest in its aircraft growing among developing countries. Indonesia has indicated interest in the J-10, while Iraq, Bangladesh and Indonesia have expressed interest in the JF-17 Thunder, jointly produced by AVIC Chengdu and Pakistan.

The company has identified expansion of arms exports as a priority and signed an agreement earlier this year with the city of Chengdu in Sichuan province to scale up aerospace production. AVIC Chengdu also produces the fifth-generation J-20 fighter jet.

Shares of the company rose about 2 per cent in Shenzhen trading on Wednesday, marking the largest increase in more than two weeks.

Separately, AVIC Shenyang Aircraft Co reported 2025 revenue of 44.7 billion yuan and profit of 3.5 billion yuan, up 3.7 per cent from the previous year. The company attributed the increase to higher sales and is expanding its manufacturing capacity, with a new facility expected to begin mass production this year.

Both AVIC Chengdu and AVIC Shenyang are subject to US sanctions.
