ISLAMABAD: In a fresh blow to inflation-hit consumers, the government has made a sharp increase in petroleum prices, raising High-Speed Diesel by Rs19.39 and petrol by Rs6.51 per litre effective May 1, 2026.
As per details, the price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been increased from Rs380.19 to Rs399.58 per litre, marking a significant jump of Rs19.39.
Similarly, the price of Motor Spirit (petrol) has been raised from Rs393.35 to Rs399.86 per litre, reflecting an increase of Rs6.51.
The revised prices will come into effect from May 1, 2026, replacing the existing rates notified on April 25, 2026.
The sharp hike in HSD is expected to have far-reaching inflationary implications, as diesel is widely used in transport, agriculture, and heavy machinery, directly impacting the cost of goods and food supply chains across the country.
Petrol, primarily used in motorcycles and private transport, will further strain household budgets already under pressure from rising living costs.
