NAB recovers 80 acres of land worth Rs6 billion in Hyderabad

The National Accountability Bureau Karachi has recovered 80 acres of government land in Hyderabad valued at Rs6 billion, following the cancellation of its allotment to M/s Bahria Town, Dawn reported.

According to NAB, the land located in Gulistan-i-Sarmast Housing Scheme, Deh Ganjo Takkar, had been illegally allotted to Bahria Town for Rs383 million, which was not fully paid.

Authorities said the allotment terms required the land to be used for establishing a university, but the conditions were not met.

NAB took up the matter with the Hyderabad Development Authority, which subsequently cancelled the allotment and repossessed the land.

The HDA also forfeited the partial payment made by Bahria Town after the violations were identified.
