Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority announces marginal LPG price cut for May 2026

ISLAMABAD:The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has notified a nominal cut in LPG consumer price by Rs 3.69 per 11.8 Kilogram cylinder and Rs 0.31.KG in line with federal government policy guidelines, setting new rates effective from May 01, 2026.

According to OGRA notification, the LPG consumer price for May 2026 has been fixed at Rs 303,804.68 per ton and Rs 3,584.90 per 11.8-kg cylinder.

For comparison, the April 2026 price stood at Rs 304,117.53 per ton and Rs 3,588.59 per cylinder, reflecting a decrease of Rs 312.85 per ton and Rs 3.69 per cylinder on a month-on-month basis.

OGRA said that the LPG producer price is linked with Saudi Aramco Contract Price (CP) and the US dollar exchange rate. It noted that there was no change in Saudi Aramco CP during the last month, while the average dollar exchange rate recorded a slight increase of 0.12 percent. Despite the marginal pressure from exchange rate movement, the overall impact resulted in a small decline in consumer prices.

The regulator further highlighted that LPG consumer price decreased by 0.10 percent, translating into a reduction of Rs 0.31 per kilogram. The May 2026 notification has been made available on OGRA’s official website www.ogra.org.pk for public access.

Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) is widely used in Pakistan as a domestic fuel, particularly for cooking and heating in households where piped natural gas is unavailable or insufficient. It is also used in small commercial setups, hotels, restaurants, and rural areas. In some cases, LPG is utilized as an alternative automotive fuel, especially in transport segments seeking cost efficiency compared to petrol and diesel.
