UN body says global food prices rise for third straight month amid Iran war disruptions

LONDON: World food prices climbed in ​April for a third ‌consecutive month, with vegetable oil prices particularly elevated ​due to disruptions ​linked to the Iran war, ⁠the United Nations ​Food and Agriculture Organization ​said on Friday.

The FAO Food Price Index, which measures changes ​in a basket ​of globally traded food commodities, ‌averaged ⁠130.7 points in April, up 1.6% from its revised March level.

In ​a separate ​report, ⁠the FAO slightly raised its ​2025 global cereal production ​estimate ⁠to a record 3.040 billion metric tons, ⁠6% ​above levels ​seen a year ago.
