Pakistan's passport ranks 100th globally, ahead of only Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan

Pakistan’s passport has been ranked 100th in the latest Henley Passport Index, placing it above only Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan in the global mobility rankings. Pakistani citizens are currently able to travel to 30 destinations without obtaining a visa in advance.

The index compares 199 passports across 227 travel destinations and ranks countries according to the number of destinations accessible visa-free or with visa-on-arrival access.

Pakistan’s ranking improved from 103rd position in 2025 to 98th earlier this year, although the latest May update placed the country at 100th position.

According to the index, only Iraq, Syria and Afghanistan ranked below Pakistan in the latest standings.

The number of destinations accessible to Pakistani passport holders also declined from 32 in February 2026 to 30 in the latest ranking, reflecting changes in visa policies and bilateral travel arrangements.

Pakistan had gained one additional destination earlier this year following reinstatement of access to The Gambia.

The global rankings continued to be led by Asian countries, with Singapore retaining the top position.

Japan, South Korea and the United Arab Emirates shared second place, while Sweden ranked third as the highest-positioned European country.

France, Germany, Italy and the Netherlands were among a group of European countries tied for fourth place in the index.

The United States was ranked 10th in the latest rankings.

India’s passport ranking declined from 75th earlier this year to 78th in the updated index.
