Pakistan’s IT exports rise 33% to $423 million in April

Pakistan’s technology exports continued their upward momentum in April 2026, rising 33% year-on-year to $423 million compared to $317 million in the same month last year, according to the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

On a monthly basis, IT exports increased 2.42% from $413 million recorded in March 2026, marking another month in which export proceeds remained above the $400 million level.

Cumulative technology exports during the first 10 months of FY2025-26 reached $3.81 billion compared to $3.15 billion in the corresponding period last year, reflecting annual growth of 21%.

The IT sector remained one of Pakistan’s fastest-growing export industries and a key contributor to services exports.

Data showed steady growth in technology exports over the past year, with receipts rising from $313 million in March 2025 to $317 million in April 2025 before accelerating during FY26.

The Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication said Pakistan had already surpassed the total IT export figure recorded in FY2024-25 within the first 10 months of FY26.

Adviser to the Finance Minister on Economic Affairs Khurram Schehzad described April’s figure as the second-highest monthly export number on record.

Analysts attributed the increase to rising international demand for Pakistani software development, cloud services, business process outsourcing and freelancing services.

They also cited expansion of export-oriented technology firms, improved digital payment channels and a growing global client base for Pakistani startups and software houses.
