OGDCL secures eight offshore blocks under Pakistan Offshore Bid Round 2025
Company awarded two blocks as operator and six as joint venture partner as government reopens offshore exploration after nearly 20 years

Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) has secured eight offshore exploration blocks under the Pakistan Offshore Bid Round 2025, expanding its offshore exploration portfolio, the company said on Thursday.
The offshore blocks include two operated directly by OGDCL and six awarded through joint ventures with other exploration and production companies.
The production sharing agreements and exploration licences were signed during a ceremony held at the Petroleum Division, formally marking the reopening of Pakistan’s offshore exploration frontier after nearly two decades.
Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik attended the signing ceremony and described the development as an important step towards reviving offshore exploration, attracting investment and reducing dependence on imported energy.
OGDCL Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Hayat Lak signed the agreements on behalf of the company along with representatives of joint venture partners.
According to the company, the newly awarded blocks strengthen OGDCL’s offshore presence and support efforts to unlock untapped domestic energy resources through increased exploration activity.
The company said the development would contribute towards long-term energy security by expanding local oil and gas exploration operations.
