Prime suspect in multi-billion-rupee Pakistan housing fraud arrested in UAE after Interpol-led operation

The main suspect in a multi-billion-rupee housing fraud case has been arrested in the United Arab Emirates following an international operation coordinated through Interpol and Pakistani authorities under an expanded anti-corruption cooperation framework, The News reported.

The case involves alleged fraud of more than ₨1.4 billion through fake plot sales, false investment promises and illegal housing operations.

The arrest was carried out with support from the UAE Ministry of Justice.

The National Accountability Bureau Lahore had earlier stated that at least 295 affected individuals lost their savings in the alleged scam.

Two directors of the company linked to the case had already been arrested before the latest development.

Officials said the arrest was part of intensified efforts by NAB Chairman Nazir Ahmed to strengthen international coordination for the repatriation of fugitives and economic offenders involved in major corruption and fraud cases.
