PSX moves closer to launch of Single Stock Options Market

Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) hosted its sixth consultative session with broker members and the Pakistan Stock Brokers Association (PSBA) on the proposed Single Stock Options Market.

The session marked a significant milestone, with broad industry consensus achieved on the key product specifications and contract features considered most suitable for Pakistan's market structure and current stage of development.

With progress made on the product framework, the initiative is now moving to the next phase, focusing on finalisation of the risk management framework with NCCPL and detailed system design and implementation planning.

PSX Head of Strategy, Products & Data Science Aamir Mushtaq Kanju presented the proposed options framework and outlined the product features considered most appropriate for the local market.

According to PSX, the proposed Single Stock Options Market is expected to enhance risk management capabilities, support liquidity development and broaden the range of investment and hedging tools available to market participants.

The session was chaired by PSX Chief Executive Officer Farrukh H. Sabzwari and attended by Chief Operating Officer Jawad H. Hashmi and Chief Regulatory Officer Ajeet Kumar.

Senior market participants who attended the meeting included AKD Securities CEO Farid Alam, PSBA Chairman Munir Khanani, PSBA CEO Bilal Zardi, Adam Securities' Noman Adam, MRA Securities Director Farhan Adam, Darson Securities CEO Malik Dil Awayz, Fawad Yusuf Securities CEO Fawad Yusuf, Yasir Mehmood Securities CEO Dr Yasir Mehmood and other industry representatives.
