Pakistan receives 140,000-cubic-metre spot LNG cargo from BP Singapore

Pakistan received a 140,000-cubic-metre spot liquefied natural gas cargo from BP Singapore on Sunday, marking its second spot-market purchase since regional supply concerns emerged in March 2026.
LNG carrier BW Helios arrived at Port Qasim at 8:10 am and berthed at PGPL Terminal, with the imported gas expected to be injected into the national transmission network.
Pakistan LNG Limited purchased the shipment through a competitive bidding process. BP Singapore secured the contract after offering a price of $19.1337 per million British thermal units for delivery during the June 6-7 window, following the opening of bids on June 4.
The cargo will support gas supplies for power generation, industry and other sectors dependent on imported LNG as domestic production remains below demand, according to officials familiar with the procurement.
The latest delivery follows a spot shipment received on April 30, when LNG carrier Seapeak Magellan brought a cargo supplied by TotalEnergies at $18.40 per million British thermal units.
Including three shipments supplied by QatarEnergy under long-term contractual arrangements, the BW Helios delivery is Pakistan’s fifth LNG cargo secured during the period. The three QatarEnergy cargoes were reportedly priced at 13.37% of Brent crude oil prices, below the prices paid for spot-market purchases.
