Pakistan receives seventh LNG cargo since Iran-US tensions escalated

Pakistan received its seventh liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo since regional tensions intensified after the Iran-US conflict, as authorities continue efforts to maintain gas supplies.

The LNG carrier MRAIKH arrived at Port Qasim’s outer anchorage at around 6:00 am local time on Monday, carrying 170,148 cubic metres of LNG from Ras Laffan, Qatar.

The cargo was supplied under a long-term contract priced at 13.37% of Brent crude.

According to shipping details, the vessel departed from Ras Laffan and is scheduled to berth at the PGPL terminal for cargo discharge.

Officials said the National Crisis Management Cell played a role in arranging five LNG cargoes from QatarEnergy since late April to ensure uninterrupted supplies amid uncertainty in regional energy markets.

With MRAIKH’s arrival, Pakistan has received seven LNG cargoes since late April as the government seeks to manage energy supply risks linked to regional instability.
