Respond.io secures $62.5 million series B to drive global expansion

Customer conversation management platform Respond.io has raised $62.5 million in a Series B funding round led by Camber Partners, with participation from Endeavor Catalyst and existing investors, as the company looks to accelerate its international expansion.

The company said the funding will be used to strengthen its presence in North America and Europe and support potential local acquisitions after establishing a customer base across Asia-Pacific, Latin America, and the Europe, Middle East and Africa regions.

Respond.io said it has reached $35 million in annual recurring revenue (ARR) and recorded 169% year-on-year growth amid rising adoption of chat and call-based customer engagement tools.

“This round accelerates respond.io’s global expansion as the customer conversation management platform for mid-market B2C businesses that generate revenue from customer chats and calls,” the company said in a statement.

The platform enables businesses to manage customer communications across channels including WhatsApp, Instagram, TikTok, Telegram, WeChat and Messenger. According to the company, it serves more than 10,000 enterprises in over 180 countries and handles more than 2 billion messages every quarter.

Respond.io was founded in 2017 by Gerardo Salandra, Hassan Ahmed and Laroslav Kudritskiy. The company started in Hong Kong as an AI chatbot venture named Rocketbots before relocating to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and rebranding as Respond.io in 2019 to focus on omnichannel customer communications.

Hassan Ahmed, who serves as the company's chief technology officer, is among the platform's co-founders.
