One of world’s largest container ships docks at Karachi Port

MSC Loreto, one of the world’s largest container vessels, arrived at the SAPTL terminal at Karachi Port on Monday, according to a statement issued by the Karachi Port Trust (KPT).

The vessel is 399.9 metres long and has a carrying capacity of 24,346 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs).

According to KPT, MSC Loreto arrived with 3,802 TEUs destined for Karachi.

The trust said the vessel’s arrival showed Karachi Port’s ability to safely and efficiently handle ultra-large container ships.

KPT said the development reflected ongoing investment in port infrastructure, modern terminal facilities and operational efficiency.

It added that such improvements are expected to support Pakistan’s maritime trade and strengthen the country’s position in the global shipping network.
