Punjab e-procurement system saves Rs70 billion in FY2025-26

Punjab’s e-procurement system generated estimated savings of Rs70 billion during FY2025-26, officials told a meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Zahid Akhtar Zaman on Thursday.

The chief secretary directed all government departments to shift public procurement to the online platform and speed up the move towards paperless governance.

The meeting was informed that more than 7,000 procuring agencies and 25,000 suppliers have been registered on the system.

The platform has been linked with the databases of Nadra, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP), the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) and the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) for verification.

Officials said online bank transfers and a 1-Link-based bid security payment mechanism have also been introduced for bidders.

The meeting was also briefed that 420 government services are available on the province’s e-Biz Portal.

More than 106,000 applications have been received through the portal, of which over 90,000 have been processed.

Zahid Akhtar Zaman directed departments to identify remaining manual services and bring them onto the e-Biz Portal.

The meeting also reviewed progress on Green Property Certificates and preparations for possible flooding during the monsoon season.
