KP Irrigation Minister Riaz Khan chairs high-level meeting on Jabba Dam project

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Irrigation Riaz Khan presided over  a high-level meeting regarding the Jabba Dam Project district Khyber in the committee room of the Irrigation Department.

The meeting was attended by Secretary Irrigation Muhammad Abid Wazir, the Project Director, project consultants, the contractor, engineers, and other relevant officials of the department.

The Provincial Minister was given a comprehensive briefing on the progress achieved so far, the ongoing construction activities, and the future course of action for the Jabba Dam Project. The meeting was informed that all essential machinery, equipment, and technical resources required for the execution of the project are available on site. Furthermore, the engineering team, technical staff, and construction machinery have been fully mobilized, and work is progressing continuously.

The participants were further informed that construction work on the dam foundation treatment, spillway, tunnel, excavation, concrete works, and other key project components is currently underway. All available resources are being utilized to ensure that the project is completed in accordance with the approved technical specifications and quality standards.

On this occasion, Irrigation Minister Riaz Khan directed the concerned officials, consultants, and the contractors to further accelerate the pace of construction so that the Jabba Dam Project is completed within the stipulated timeframe and made operational for the benefit of the public at the earliest.

He emphasized that the KP government give great importance to the timely completion of this strategically significant project, as it will promote efficient water resource management, support agricultural development, contribute to groundwater recharge, and generate long-term socio-economic benefits for the local population.

He said  that all administrative, financial, and technical bottlenecks hindering the project's progress would be addressed on a priority basis. He assured that the KP government would ensure the timely release of funds and provide every possible institutional support to facilitate the uninterrupted execution of construction activities.

He said that the KP irrigation department remains fully committed to completing all major water infrastructure projects across the province within the prescribed timelines, while maintaining the highest standards of quality, transparency, and efficiency, so that their benefits can reach to KP people without any delay.
