Senate panel approves bill to extend blue passport facility to ex-MPs’ dependent children
Proposed law seeks to grant children under 28 the same passport entitlement available to families of retired Grade-22 officers

The Senate Standing Committee on Interior and Narcotics Control on Friday unanimously approved the Members of Parliament Salaries and Allowances (Amendment) Bill, 2026, allowing dependent children under the age of 28 of former members of parliament to receive blue passports.
The private member’s bill, introduced by Senator Abdul Qadir, was approved during a meeting chaired by Senator Faisal Saleem Rahman.
Ruly party’s Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry also supported the bill and said the recommendations would be presented to the cabinet for approval by the competent authority.
Committee members also discussed the potential impact of the policy on Pakistan’s international passport ranking before unanimously approving the bill for the next stage of the legislative process.
