Gwadar Port handles 53,064-tonne steel cargo despite regional maritime tensions
Gwadar Port handled a new transshipment as M/V Jahan Brothers II berthed with 53,064.660 tonnes of prime steel billets bound for the UAE. The cargo will be temporarily stored before onward shipment, showing Gwadar’s role as a safe trade hub.
Commercial operations at Gwadar Port are continuing despite regional maritime tensions, with another transhipment vessel arriving to handle more than 53,000 tonnes of steel cargo.
The Bangladesh-flagged M/V Jahan Brothers II berthed at the port on Saturday after sailing from Singapore, carrying 53,064.660 tonnes of prime steel billets.
The cargo is destined for Al Hamriyah Port in the United Arab Emirates. It will be temporarily unloaded and stored at Gwadar before being reloaded onto another vessel for onward shipment.
Gwadar Port Authority Chairman Noor-ul-Haq Baloch said the continuation of commercial activity amid regional challenges showed that the port was developing as a safe, reliable and efficient regional trade hub.
He said Gwadar Port was also strengthening its position as an alternative route for regional commerce.
