HBL appoints renowned banker Muhammad Aurangzeb as President/CEO

LAHORE: Pakistan's largest bank Habib Bank Limited (HBL) revealed it has appointed Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb as the President and CEO of the bank.
This was disclosed in a bourse notification filed Thursday by Habib Bank Limited.
Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb is a respected and seasoned banker with more than 30 years of diverse experience with leading global banks in Pakistan and overseas. His last assignment was as CEO Global Corporate Bank, Asia Pacific at JP Morgan.
He was also offered the role of governor State Bank of Pakistan in February 2014 by the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Mr. Muhammad Aurangzeb started his career with Citibank, first in Pakistan and later in New York. He then joined ABN AMRO Bank in a senior leadership role, rising to the position of the Country Manager in Pakistan. He has since held senior level regional and global positions in ABN AMRO Amsterdam, RBS Singapore and, since 2011, with JP Morgan.

Mr. Aurangzeb is a graduate of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania from where he received a bachelor’s degree in Science and Economics as well as an MBA.
HBL shares were trading at Rs199.25, up Rs5.23 and KSE-100 index was trading at 44,407.30 points, up 358.25 points from close on Wednesday.
