LAHORE: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) surged 699.59 points within the first hour of opening on Thursday as elections results poured in indicating Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf was leading in the National Assembly race.
The KSE-100 index shot up 710.44 points within the first 50 minutes of trading, touching a high of 42,136.06 points and lowest of 41,339.22 points.
And the top sector in terms of turnover in the first hour of trading at PSX was engineering constituting 13.1 percent of the trading, 12.7 percent for transport, 11.6 percent for chemical and cement with 10.8 percent in the first hour of trading on Thursday.
The top advancers were Sapphire Textile Mills, Sanofi-Aventis Pakistan, Wyeth Pakistan and Mari Petroleum respectively.
The top losers were Indus Motor Company, Shield Corporation, Artistic Denim Mills and ZIL Limited respectively.
