ISLAMABAD: National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) is set to take up on Friday the periodic adjustments on account of power purchase price (PPP) in the consumer end tariff of six power distributing companies (DISCOs) regarding the financial year 2017-18.
According to NEPRA’s notice, a hearing regarding periodic adjustments on account of PPP in the consumer end tariff of GEPCO, MEPCO, PESCO, HESCO, SEPCO and QESCO pertaining to the FY 2017-18 will be held on Friday, September 07, 2018.
NEPRA, in a notice of hearing, has invited all the interested or affected parties to attend the hearing scheduled to be held Friday and to file written comments or objections as permissible under the law.
“Since the impact of any such adjustment is to be passed on to consumers, therefore, the Authority considered it just and appropriate to conduct hearing in the matter,” said NEPRA’s notice.
It is relevant to mention here that the Authority (NEPRA) determined consumer-end tariff of GEPCO, MEPCO, PESCO, HESCO, SEPCO, and QESCO for the FY 2015-16, and the same was notified by the federal government on March 22, 2018. Similarly, the above referred notified determinations provide mechanism for quarterly adjustments on account of PPP, including impact of transmission and distribution losses.
NEPRA has also determined the consumer-end tariff for above said six DISCOs and the same was intimated to the federal government for notification. ”The Authority, further, considering the fact that FY 2017-18 lapsed, has also decided to consider the impact of PYA in instant proceedings,” noted the letter .
