Inflation only increased by 0.4pc in five months, minister claims

ISLAMABAD: Planning Minister Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar has said that the opposition parties were unjustly criticizing the government over price hike and inflation, whereas inflation was far higher during the first financial year of previous governments.

“There has been a negligible increase of 0.4 percent in inflation during the past five months,” he claimed.

The minister, in a joint press conference with Information Minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain, said that during the first five months of Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML -N) governments, inflation increased by 11.2pc and 4pc respectively. On the other hand, during the same period of this government, there has been a negligible increase of 0.4pc in inflation which shows that the PTI government’s policies are in the right direction.
