FinMin commits to resolving K-Electric’s payment delay concerns

The Finance Minister has pledged to resolve K-Electric’s pressing issue regarding delayed payments for consumer bills collected through the postal service. This assurance follows a meeting today between the Finance Minister and senior officials from K-Electric.

In a statement released today, K-Electric’s CEO, Syed Moonis Abdullah Alvi, along with CFO Muhammad Aamir Ghaziani and Chief Regulatory Affairs Officer Muhammad Imran Qureshi, visited the Finance Division to discuss the matter with the Finance Minister.

During the meeting, representatives from K-Electric acknowledged that the recent agreement between the government and K-Electric had addressed several important issues. They emphasized that K-Electric was actively progressing with the implementation of new generation projects aimed at enhancing the electricity mix in the region.

In response, the Finance Minister urged the K-Electric team to prioritize improvements in service delivery across Karachi. He also encouraged the utility company to accelerate its plans for increasing the capacity of cheaper electricity generation. This initiative aims to reduce the overall cost of electricity for consumers.

The meeting underscores the government’s commitment to addressing critical issues affecting the energy sector, ensuring reliable electricity supply, and enhancing affordability for consumers in Karachi.
