Apple has introduced new Apple Intelligence features with the release of iOS 18.2, iPadOS 18.2, and macOS Sequoia 15.2, signaling a significant upgrade to its AI capabilities.
Key additions include image creation tools, Genmoji customization, enhanced writing features, and integration with OpenAI’s ChatGPT.
The company has expanded language support for Apple Intelligence, adding localized English for regions such as Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, and the U.K. Previously, AI features supported only U.S. English.
ChatGPT integration allows Siri to direct users to ChatGPT for complex queries. Writing tools, previously limited to rewriting text, now feature a “compose” option, leveraging ChatGPT to generate text based on user prompts.
Apple’s new Image Playground app enables users to create or remix images in various styles, with features embedded in Messages and APIs available to third-party developers. Similarly, the Genmoji tool lets users design emojis by describing them or using images from their photo library.
Apple also unveiled visual intelligence for iPhone 16 models, allowing users to search or query objects in the camera frame or translate text directly. The Notes app now includes the Image Wand tool, which converts rough sketches into polished illustrations.
Apple plans to provide developers with access to Apple Intelligence APIs, aiming to integrate advanced AI features across third-party applications. Upcoming updates will enhance Siri’s contextual understanding and onscreen awareness, according to the company.
