Huawei, education ministry launch ICT training program in schools

ISLAMABAD: Huawei Pakistan, in partnership with the Ministry of Federal Education and Professional Training, has launched a digital training program targeting students from Grades 6 to 10 in Islamabad Model Schools and Colleges, as part of the Prime Minister’s digital transformation campaign.

The program, managed by the Federal Directorate of Education (FDE), aims to train more than 300,000 students across Islamabad, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Jammu and Kashmir. It also includes a "Train the Trainer" segment and the development of a digital roadmap for schools.

According to an official FDE notification, heads of institutions are required to ensure full registration of students in the targeted grades by May 27. Registration is to be completed via the Huawei Talent platform.

Each student must use a unique email address and phone number to register.

The initial module, “AI Basics,” is a one-hour course that all students must complete before summer vacations begin. Additional courses will cover technologies such as 5G, the Internet of Things, cloud computing, data analysis, and network security.

These courses will be rolled out over several months by grade level.

FDE officials stated the program is intended to align students with evolving digital education trends and strengthen the country’s IT education framework.

Students who complete the modules will receive certificates of completion.
