Google says it resolved global outage affecting cloud services

The company says Gmail, Google Chat, Meet, Calendar, Drive, Voice, Tasks, and Cloud Search were fully restored

Google said on Thursday it had fixed a service disruption that affected several of its platforms and third-party services including Spotify and Discord.

The company said Gmail, Google Chat, Meet, Calendar, Drive, Voice, Tasks, and Cloud Search were fully restored.

The outage began around 1:50 p.m. ET and affected platforms that rely on Google’s cloud services. These included music streamer Spotify, messaging platform Discord, and Snapchat.

At its peak, there were over 46,000 outage reports for Spotify and nearly 11,000 for Discord in the U.S., according to user-submitted data on Downdetector.

Google Cloud’s dashboard later said some services were still seeing limited impact, and that engineering teams were working on resolution. Google also said it would release a report after completing an internal investigation.

By 6:18 p.m. ET, most services were running normally, with Spotify showing around 1,000 outage reports and Discord about 200.
