Meta appoints India ads chief Arun Srinivas as country head

The announcement comes as Meta remains in a dispute with Indian authorities over alleged anti-competitive practices

Meta Platforms said Monday it has appointed Arun Srinivas as its new managing director and head for India, starting July 1.

He currently leads Meta’s advertising business in the country, according to his LinkedIn profile.

The announcement comes as Meta remains in a dispute with Indian authorities over alleged anti-competitive practices. In November, the Competition Commission of India fined the company for antitrust violations and ordered WhatsApp, which Meta owns, to stop sharing user data with other Meta-owned platforms for advertising for five years.

Meta opposed the order, saying it could hurt its business. Earlier this year, an Indian tribunal temporarily paused the data-sharing ban, providing some relief to the company.
