Pakistan ranks among weakest passports globally, tied for 96th place with Somalia and Yemen

Pakistani passport holders can travel visa-free to just 32 countries, while Singapore leads with access to 193 destinations

Pakistan continues to hold one of the weakest passports globally, ranked 96th out of 199 countries in the latest Henley & Partners Passport Index. Pakistani passport holders can only travel to 32 countries without a visa, sharing the position with Somalia and Yemen.

In contrast, Singapore retains its position as the world’s most powerful passport, with citizens enjoying visa-free access to 193 countries. Japan and South Korea rank second, each with access to 190 countries.

The third position is shared by six European nations—Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, and Spain—whose citizens can travel visa-free to 189 countries. Belgium, Austria, Luxembourg, Norway, Portugal, and Sweden follow closely with access to 188 destinations, while Greece, New Zealand, and Switzerland tie for fifth with 187 countries.

The index, which ranks countries based on the ease of travel for their citizens, shows a decline for the US passport, now at 10th place, its lowest ranking in years.

Conversely, the United Arab Emirates has seen significant improvement, climbing 34 places to now rank 8th. China has also seen a rise, moving up 34 positions to 60th.

Pakistan, however, continues to rank near the bottom, with only Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan ranking lower in terms of global mobility. Other countries near Pakistan in the index include Nepal, Libya, and Palestine, reflecting the limited international travel opportunities for their citizens.
