FBR extends sales tax returns deadline to August 4, 2025

Taxpayers required to pay due sales tax by original deadline to avail extended filing date for June returns

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has extended the deadline for the submission of Sales Tax and Federal Excise Returns for June 2025 to August 4, 2025. This extension is conditional upon the timely deposit of the due sales tax liability.

In an official directive issued on Thursday, the FBR notified Chief Commissioners of Inland Revenue, Large Taxpayers Offices (LTOs), Medium Taxpayers Offices (MTOs), Corporate Tax Offices (CTOs), and Regional Tax Offices (RTOs) of the extension.

The FBR exercised its powers under section 74 of the Sales Tax Act, 1990, and section 43 of the Federal Excise Act, 2005, to approve the revised deadline, originally set for July 18, 2025.

The new submission date is now set for August 4, 2025, provided the sales tax liabilities are cleared on time.
