Over 3,800 investors show interest in setting up EV charging stations in Pakistan

NEECA issues 71 licenses, with 128 more applications in the pipeline as companies plan battery-swapping infrastructure

More than 3,800 investors and companies have expressed interest in establishing electric vehicle (EV) charging stations across Pakistan, signaling a significant step towards the development of EV infrastructure, according to a news report.

Dr. Sardar Moazzam, Managing Director of the National Energy Conservation Authority (NEECA), revealed that 30 to 35 operational EV charging stations have already approached the registration authority.

NEECA has issued licenses for 71 EV charging stations, with 128 more applications currently under review.

Both international and local companies are showing increased interest in investing in EV charging networks, with some also planning to set up battery-swapping infrastructure.

The government’s recent reduction in electricity tariffs for EV charging stations has further boosted investor confidence, said Dr. Moazzam. He added that a license is issued within 15 days once the necessary documentation is completed.
