The government is prioritizing major infrastructure projects in Pakistan Railways, particularly the ML-1 Railway corridor, according to Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi. He emphasized the government’s commitment to modernizing railway infrastructure to meet international standards and integrating digital technologies for improved governance and system upgrades.
The “RABTA” ticketing app has been integrated with 16 banks and popular online payment platforms like Easypaisa and JazzCash for public convenience. Efforts to fully digitize railway services, including the inquiry system, train inspection, employee attendance, and freight operations, are progressing as part of broader reforms aimed at enhancing operational efficiency and service quality.
The minister also highlighted that 40 railway stations in Punjab are being equipped with free Wi-Fi, with support from the provincial government. He noted that much of the digitalization work is complete and nearing its final stages.
