QUETTA – The Balochistan government, in collaboration with Pakistan Railways, has announced the launch of the “People’s Train Service” connecting Saryab and Kuchlak. The initiative is set to provide an affordable, fast, and reliable travel option for the people of Balochistan, with the implementation process soon to begin following route consultations.
The development was confirmed during a high-level meeting in Quetta, chaired by Chief Minister Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti. Bugti pledged to personally oversee every phase of the project, emphasising that no delays would be tolerated in bringing the service to life.
In a bid to ensure the project’s success, the Balochistan government has decided to source engines and coaches from Pakistan Railways instead of relying on imports. Federal Minister for Railways, Muhammad Hanif Abbasi, assured that the necessary rolling stock and facilities would be provided within six months.
The meeting also outlined plans for Pakistan Railways to upgrade the existing infrastructure along the route to facilitate smooth operations. Abbasi described the project as the start of a new era in public transportation for the region, aiming to enhance connectivity and improve mobility for local commuters.
