Pakistan’s Ministry of Maritime Affairs has approved the first ferry service license for Sea Keepers International, an international ferry operator, with the Research Centre for International Maritime Law & Practice (RCIMLP) appointed as its maritime law consultant.
On August 5, the UK-based Sea Keepers International received the license to operate ferry routes connecting Pakistan with Iran and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries.
Research Centre for International Maritime Law & Practice will provide legal expertise to ensure that the ferry service complies with international maritime laws and practices, addressing the specific challenges of Pakistan’s maritime sector.
The consultancy will work with various stakeholders to navigate regulatory requirements, enhance safety standards, and promote sustainable practices aligned with global maritime norms.
The launch of Sea Keepers International is seen as a significant milestone for the country, offering new opportunities for trade, tourism, and regional cooperation.
“We are honored to partner with Sea Keepers International on this initiative, and we remain committed to strengthening Pakistan’s maritime legal framework and supporting regional collaboration,” said Muslim Bin Aqeel, CEO of RCIMLP.
He added that the project would contribute to Pakistan’s blue economy and further maritime connectivity.
