CCP approves Nippon Express acquisition in TCS Logistics

The Competition Commission of Pakistan clears Nippon Express' acquisition of shareholding in TCS Logistics

The Competition Commission of Pakistan (CCP) has approved Nippon Express (South Asia & Oceania) Pte. Limited’s acquisition of a shareholding in TCS Logistics (Private) Limited.

Nippon Express, a subsidiary of Japan’s Nippon Express Holdings, operates in South Asia and Oceania, with its Singapore-based arm overseeing its regional operations. TCS Logistics, a major player in Pakistan’s third-party logistics (3PL) sector, provides essential logistics services nationwide.

After conducting a thorough review under the Competition Act, 2010, the CCP concluded that the transaction would not significantly impact market competition, as the combined market share of the two companies remains minimal. The acquisition is expected to bring increased efficiency, with international logistics expertise introduced to Pakistan’s domestic market, enhancing operational capabilities and service quality.

The CCP’s review found no barriers to entry being created in the relevant market. Based on the findings, the CCP authorized the acquisition under Section 31 of the Competition Act, 2010.
