Six armed robbers loot Rs15.6 million from Korean seafood company staff near Keamari Fish Harbour

Robbers snatch cash, security guard's weapon; police collect CCTV footage and evidence, questioning guard and accountant

KARACHI: Six armed robbers, riding two motorcycles, stole Rs15.6 million in cash from the staff of a Korean seafood export company near Keamari Fish Harbour on Sunday. The robbers also snatched the weapon from a security guard who was accompanying the staff.

According to SSP Kemari, Captain (retd) Faizan Ali, the robbery occurred after the company’s local staff withdrew Rs15.6 million from a bank near the harbour. As the staff approached the company gate, the robbers intercepted their vehicle and stole the cash bag at gunpoint.

The SSP confirmed that although the security guard was present, he did not take action during the robbery. In addition to the cash, the robbers also took the guard’s weapon before fleeing the scene.

The police have obtained CCTV footage of the incident and gathered other evidence. The security guard and the company’s accountant are currently being questioned by authorities.

SHO Docks, Nand Lal, mentioned that according to the company’s statement, the stolen cash was meant for distribution as bonuses to employees.
