Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said the government is determined to turn Pakistan’s large youth population into an asset by creating jobs, expanding vocational training, and equipping young people with modern skills.
In an exclusive interview with Pakistan TV Digital, the prime minister said the “youth bulge” could be harnessed as a driver of economic growth alongside expansion in agriculture and technical education. “Our focus is to convert demographic challenges into economic opportunities,” he stressed.
Reflecting on the economic situation, Shehbaz Sharif recalled that in 2022–23 Pakistan stood on the verge of default. He credited the entire economic team and his own efforts with steering the country back to stability. “Through extraordinary teamwork — Team Pakistan’s joint efforts, untiring commitment, and sense of purpose to achieve results — I can say without any fear of contradiction that, at this point in time, we are a stable economy,” he said.
The premier acknowledged the setbacks caused by catastrophic floods, noting the unexpected scale of destruction. He highlighted the joint response involving the federal government, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), provincial administrations, and the armed forces in rescue and relief operations.
When asked how he envisions Pakistan a decade from now, Shehbaz Sharif said he hoped to see the nation standing tall, marked by “remarkable achievements in economic prosperity, peace, and happiness.” He added that his vision also included a Pakistan that remains militarily strong and commands respect on the global stage.
