Pakistan has sought Chinese investment and expertise to establish a laptop and tablet manufacturing industry in the country. This was discussed in a meeting between Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Industries and Production, Haroon Akhtar Khan, and the CEO of HYF, a Chinese laptop manufacturing company.

The Chinese company, known for producing laptops, fingerprint devices, and tablets, has been in talks with the Pakistani government to set up manufacturing operations in the country.

During the meeting, the SAPM emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring the security of foreign investments, particularly from China.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has directed the facilitation of Chinese investors in Pakistan, including the introduction of a Mobile Device Policy that will cover laptops and tablets.

Haroon Akhtar Khan further mentioned the country’s improved visa policy for Chinese investors, allowing for business and visit visas to be processed within 24 to 72 hours.

Additionally, the SAPM directed the Pakistan Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC) and the Engineering Development Board (EDB) to provide full support to HYF to ensure the successful establishment of the project.
