Power Division reports major progress in restoring flood-hit electricity grids

Over 373 feeders fully restored nationwide; full supply for remaining consumers expected in coming days

The Ministry of Energy (Power Division) on Tuesday announced substantial progress in restoring electricity across flood-affected parts of the country, with most damaged grids and feeders already back online.

According to its latest situation report, a total of 51 grid stations and 588 feeders had been impacted nationwide as of September 23. Out of these, 373 feeders have been fully restored, while 208 are partially re-energised.

In Punjab, the Faisalabad Electric Supply Company (FESCO) reported damage to 28 grid stations and 81 feeders. Power has been restored to 63 feeders, while 18 are partially functional. Supply to around 5,066 consumers is expected to be completely restored by September 24. The Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) saw 67 feeders disrupted; 66 have already been fully restored and one remains partially energised. Power supply has been completely restored in Lahore, Nankana Sahib, Okara and Sheikhupura districts, with electricity for 441 remaining consumers expected by September 24.

The Multan Electric Power Company (MEPCO) reported 81 feeders affected. Of these, 33 feeders are now fully restored while 141 are operating on a partial basis. Full recovery will begin once floodwaters in the region recede. The Gujranwala Electric Power Company (GEPCO) recorded damage to 11 grid stations and 103 feeders, of which 102 feeders have been fully restored and one partially re-energised. Electricity for the remaining 22 consumers will be restored once floodwaters subside.

In Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) restored 88 affected feeders in full and three on a partial basis, with successful restoration reported in Swat, Swabi and Dera Ismail Khan. In the Tribal Electric Supply Company (TESCO) areas of North Waziristan and Khyber, all 18 affected feeders have been restored. Hazara Electric Supply Company (HAZECO) also reported complete restoration of its three impacted feeders in the Mansehra region.

Meanwhile, the Sukkur Electric Power Company (SEPCO) has temporarily restored 44 affected feeders across its jurisdiction, with permanent restoration scheduled in the coming days.

The Power Division said it was working “tirelessly” to ensure full restoration of supply to all flood-affected consumers at the earliest possible time.
