36 price control magistrates appointed across seven districts of Punjab

Move aims to ensure effective enforcement of price regulations in key districts, alongside strengthened security for the upcoming cricket series

The Punjab Cabinet Committee on Law and Order has approved the appointment of 36 price control magistrates across seven districts in the province, including Kasur, Rajanpur, DG Khan, Vehari, Hafizabad, Murree, and Sialkot. 

The decision, made during the 36th meeting of the committee, is aimed at ensuring effective implementation of price regulations and controlling inflation.

The meeting was chaired by Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique, with Provincial Law Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharath attending as a special guest. Home Secretary Dr. Ahmad Javed Qazi and law enforcement representatives provided updates on the law and order situation in the province.

The committee also discussed comprehensive security arrangements for the upcoming Pakistan-South Africa cricket series. It was decided that the South African team would receive VVIP status, with a robust security plan in place to ensure the safety of players and spectators.

Khawaja Salman Rafique highlighted the establishment of a special committee by the Home Department to promote religious harmony and eliminate sectarianism, emphasizing the importance of interfaith peace. Additionally, the committee reviewed improvements to the parole system to make the rules more effective.

Minister Malik Sohaib Ahmed Bharath indicated that the performance of the newly appointed price control magistrates will be reviewed in the next meeting. 

The meeting saw participation from senior officials, including the Special Secretary Home Fazal Rehman, Additional Secretary Internal Security, Additional Secretary Police, and other concerned authorities. Commissioners, deputy commissioners, and police officers from various districts also joined the meeting via video link.
