Pakistan Customs has dismantled an international drug smuggling network at Jinnah International Airport, Karachi, arresting the alleged ringleader and seizing a large consignment of narcotics routed through international mail.
As per reports, more than 10,000 ecstasy tablets, weighing around 4.5 kilograms and valued at over Rs3.2 billion, were recovered during the operation. The drugs had been dispatched from Germany and addressed to recipients in Pakistan via postal channels.
The investigation began after a suspicious parcel arrived at the Karachi airport in December 2025. When an individual identified as Kamran arrived to collect the shipment, customs officials placed him under surveillance as part of a planned operation.
Based on sustained monitoring, authorities traced the wider network to a concealed distribution point in Karachi’s Korangi area. Officials said the alleged mastermind of the group, Sher Muhammad, son of Muhammad Jan, along with other members of the syndicate, was taken into custody.
Customs authorities said further investigations were underway to identify additional links in the network and determine the full scope of the smuggling operation.
