Federal Minister for Petroleum, Ali Pervaiz Malik, is leading a Pakistani delegation at the Future Minerals Forum (FMF) 2026 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The forum, hosted by the Saudi Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, serves as a platform to discuss advancements in the mining sector and explore potential collaborations.
On the sidelines of the forum, Malik met with H.E. Bandar Ibrahim Al-Khorayef, Saudi Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources. The discussions focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the mining and minerals sector, including joint investment opportunities and collaboration across the mineral value chain.
The Saudi Minister highlighted the growing global interest in mining and critical minerals, recognising the vast potential for cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. He emphasised that Saudi Arabia’s expertise and technical resources would be available to support Pakistan’s mineral sector, also noting the value of Pakistan’s young and dynamic workforce.
Minister Malik reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations and cooperation, particularly in the mining sector. He mentioned ongoing efforts by the Geological Survey of Pakistan to collaborate with Saudi counterparts, including the Saudi Geological Survey.
He also pointed to the potential of the Tethyan Belt, with projects like Reko Diq offering significant opportunities for joint ventures. Further, he highlighted sectors such as fertiliser production and medical equipment manufacturing as areas ripe for investment.
The Pakistani delegation at FMF 2026 includes key policymakers, representatives from state-owned enterprises, and stakeholders from the private sector and mining industry, including firms like PPL, OGDCL, Mari Energies, GHPL, and Saindak Metals.
The participation is organised by Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy’s Petroleum Division. The Pakistan Pavilion at the forum is designed to showcase the country’s rich mineral resources, flagship mining projects, and investment opportunities, under the theme “Mineral Marvel – Unleashing Pakistan’s Mineral Revolution.”
Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Nawaf bin Saeed Ahmad Al-Malkiy, extended full support for Pakistan’s participation, commending the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Minister Malik. During a visit to the pavilion, Minister Al-Khorayef praised the efforts of the Pakistani delegation and the pavilion’s impactful design.
